Kerala's Very Own Kakka Fry/Clam Fry
Ingredients
Cleaned Kakka/Clam Meat – 250 gm
Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Pepper powder – ¼ tsp
Garam masala – ½ tsp
Coconut flakes – 3 tbsp
Curry leaves – a few
Coconut oil – 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Method
Clean & wash the kakka and marinate the kakka or clam meat with red chilli powder, turmeric, pepper and salt for ½ an hour. In a pan, heat oil, add the marinated clams or kakka and cook till on medium heat with lid on top till it gets fried, steamed and cooked till atmost done. Add in the garam masala, curry leaves, coconut flakes and little salt if needed and mix everything well together. Cook till done without lid. Serve with rice or chappatti.
