Kerala Style Chicken Peralan


Ingredients


Chicken – 500 gms


Marinade for the chicken


Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Cumin powder – ¼ tsp
Coriander powder – 2 tsp
Garam masala – 1 tsp
Salt to taste


For the gravy


Onion – 2 nos.
Ginger garlic paste – 3 tsp
Oil – 5 tbsp
Curry leaves – a few
Vinegar – 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Hot water – ½ Cup
Coriander leaves chopped - to garnish

Method


Marinate the chicken pieces with the marinade and keep it in fridge for 2 hours. In a pan, heat oil, and saute onions, curry leaves and ginger garlic paste, till they turn golden brown in color. add in vinegar and marinated chicken pieces & salt to taste, mix everything well together. Pour hot water in and cook with lid on top till the chicken gets cooked and become tender. In another pan, heat oil and fry the cooked chicken pieces by separating the chicken pieces from the gravy. Keep the gravy aside for later use. Fry the chicken till it turns golden on all sides by turning the pieces on all sides.Once the chicken is fried, add the gravy into the oil and mix everything well together. Once the gravy gets well coated to the chicken, garnish with coriander leaves & serve hot with rice or chappatti.
